Refund Policy
Last updated: March 2026
No surprise rules. What you read here is what applies. If anything is unclear, email support@invistiq.com.
1. Free tier
Every new account starts on the Free tier. No credit card required. The Free tier includes 25,000 events per month and ongoing public-key verification — it is not a trial and does not expire.
Paid tiers (Compliance Starter, Compliance Insurer, Enterprise Insurer, Charter) are sales-led and invoiced annually. You only pay when you sign an annual contract.
2. Monthly plans
- Cancel anytime from your account settings. No fees, no penalties.
- Cancellation is effective at the end of the current billing period. You keep full platform access until then.
- No partial refunds on monthly plans. If you cancel mid-month, the month you already paid for is not refunded.
3. Annual plans
Annual plans save you 2 months compared to paying month-to-month.
- Cancel anytime. You keep access through the end of your paid term.
- 30-day refund window: if you cancel within 30 days of your annual payment, you can request a refund. The refund is the annual fee minus the months already used, charged at the monthly rate.
- No refunds after 30 days from the payment date.
Example refund calculation
You pay $18,000 for a Compliance Starter annual plan. After two months you decide to cancel. The refund is the annual fee minus two months at the prorated monthly rate ($1,500 x 2 = $3,000). Refund: approximately $18,000 - $3,000 = $15,000.
Exact amounts depend on your specific plan rate and timing. We calculate this at the time of the request.
4. Upgrades and downgrades
- Upgrades take effect immediately. The cost difference is prorated for the remaining days in your billing period, so you only pay for what you use.
- Downgrades take effect at the start of the next billing period. You keep your current plan's features until then.
5. Compliance tiers
Compliance Starter and Compliance Pro are annual plans that include compliance mapping as part of the tier. Here is how mid-cycle changes work:
- Upgrading mid-cycle: the annual fee difference is prorated for the days remaining in your billing period. You pay only for the portion of the year the higher tier is active.
- Downgrading: the downgrade takes effect at the end of the current billing period. The current period is not refunded once compliance mapping and evidence pack generation have been used.
6. Your data after cancellation
After your account is cancelled or your paid access ends:
- Your signed event log is retained for the regulatory floor on your account (Article 19 six months by default, configurable up to ten years). You can log in and export signed events and evidence packs at any time during that window.
- After your retention floor elapses, all your data is permanently and irreversibly deleted from our systems.
- Retention floors are enforced at the storage layer (AWS S3 Object Lock). If your regulatory regime requires earlier deletion, contact us and we will work through the regulator-compatible path.
We recommend exporting your evidence packs before you cancel. Exports include the signed PDF, the JSON manifest, and the published Merkle root.
7. How to request a refund
To request a refund, email support@invistiq.com with the subject line "Refund Request" and include your account email and the reason for your request.
We process all refund requests within 10 business days. Once approved, refunds are returned to the original payment method. Stripe's processing time (typically 5-10 business days) applies on top of that.
You can also cancel directly from the Settings page inside the platform. Cancellation through settings does not automatically trigger a refund. Refund requests must be sent by email.
